Check Before You Donate Your Horse
On receiving an email announcement of the Unwanted Horse Coalition's new database of places willing to accept donated horses, I was surprised to find that the UHC's checklist contained what I believed to be a critical omission. It didn't include the IRS database where potential donors can verify the tax-exempt status (or lack thereof) of any organization to which they are considering donating a horse: http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96136,00.html
